This report covers the history and current socioeconomic state of the Puerto Rican diaspora in the Chicago Metro Area sixty years after immigration in order to provide the Puerto Rican Agenda with vital statistics and analysis that will assist its stakeholders, such as, government officials, community based agencies and other institutions serving the Puerto Rican community. In addition to demographics, it focuses on housing, economic development, education, health, women, youth and culture. This report was made possible by the generous support of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy, the Chicago branch of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and the Chicago Community Trust. After about a year and a half of research, the research team collected more data and maps that the Puerto Rican Agenda was able to fit in the final report. These additional data have been made available to the general public through this website. Data includes a detailed market analysis for the Puerto Rican Influence Area, various demographic maps, in addition to several spreadsheets with census data.More Data
