Our CHARGE

To support programs that advance best practice models and to promote initiatives and policy recommendations that address the academic needs of students and enrich the educational environment of students and their families.

Our work focuses on three historically Puerto Rican institutions:

The Committee also promotes collaboration between schools and their engagement in the Community as a Campus Education Initiative (CAAC). Working with 16 schools within the Humboldt Park community CAAC is building Pre-K to 16 education pathways with wrap around services and a pipeline to Roberto Clemente Community Academy. CAAC has promoted school offerings such as the International Baccalaureate Program, Science Technology Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM), Dual Language and Community Schools Initiative. In addition, several programs are offered to students and families with the collaboration of community and institutional partners such as the dual enrollment initiative, sports programing, Urban Agriculture and the Illinois Grow Your Own Teacher program.
